Gol, a Brazilian budget carrier, is reportedly planning to make an initial public offering (IPO). The airline is expected to make the IPO on the New York Stock Exchange on 24 June 2004 and on the Brazilian stock exchange the following day. The offering is expected to raise a total of about BRL810m, of which only BRL460m would represent new stock. The other BRL350m worth of shares would come from existing stock.
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been voted the "Favourite Airline for Travel to the Far East" in an annual Travel and Tourism survey conducted in 2003. The Middle East Travel and Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal magazines - which are circulated in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe - conducted the survey from May to December 2003. The award was based on about 1,400 replies from readers.
America West Airlines has announced that members of its frequent flyer programme, FlightFund, can earn a companion pass after flying two round trip nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Boston, New York/JFK or Washington, D.C./Dulles. The companion pass may be used to take a friend to any of the following destinations: Boston; Edmonton, Alberta; Las Vegas; Mazatlan, Mexico; New York/JFK; Phoenix; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Washington, D.C. The two qualifying flights must be completed by 15 November 2004, while the companion pass is valid until 16 February 2005.
